Autologous tissue transplantation is the gold standard of tissue reconstruction for repairing oral and maxillofacial functions and aesthetics. The tissue engineering approach employing a biocompatible cell scaffold and differentiation competent MSC offer great potential for tissue reconstruction without the complications associated with autologous tissue procurement.
